This boutique hotel is located in the heart of New York City with rooms suited for the typical business executive. The guestrooms include unusual architectural details with high ceilings, narrow widths, niches and tight bathrooms. Spectrum found creative ways to mask the awkward sizes of the rooms. We used a border to create the illusion of a lower ceiling height and chose interesting paint finishes, clean contemporary casegoods lines, fresh citrus palette with warm earth tone accents to compliment the room. By adding up-to-date amenities such as a mini-bar, coffee station, multiple phones, computer access, flat screen televisions, we made the room functional for the average business user. The rooms were adorned with black and white New York City architectural photography, comfortable seating – ergonomic chair at the desk and occasional chair by the bedside. Decorative crown molding was also added to increase to architectural look of the space. The bathrooms, while particularly small in size, were staged with pedestal sinks, large framed vanity mirrors, curved shower rods to tub enclosures and floating granite amenity shelf to make the most of the space.
