Description: The Key West Steam Plant project is a $28 million conversion of the waterfront 1950's era industrial art deco designed steam plant into nineteen luxury condominiums providing for a truly unique living space on the island of Key West. mbi | k2m provide architectural services from design through construction documents for the builing and also the interiors of the condominiums.

At 2,200 square feet, Unit #2 boast 11-foot-high ceilings, custom-made, 12-inch baseboards and 9-foot doors with European-height doorknobs.

Shades of gray on the walls, stainless steel appliances and a hand-applied, silver tea paper ceiling reinforce and reflect the light flow. However, black is the accent of choice: black porcelain-tile floors, black granite countertops, black floor-to-ceiling cabinets. In fact, all the rooms and closets feature built-in, furniture-quality cabinetry. There's even a Murphy bed in the guest room/office and a magic bookcase that opens to reveal a hidden chamber for safekeeping precious items.

A long, glass-tiled island with three lamp-shaded chandeliers separates the galley kitchen from the great room's living space, but the kitchen is the obvious hub for a condominium designed with a luxurious and social lifestyle in mind.
